Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia has developed ICIQ Alumni Program with the aim of being in touch and keep learning with other former ICIQers.
Today we have celebrated the 2nd edition of the ICIQ Alumni Day at ICIQ’s Auditorium Prof. Dr. Kilian Muñiz. The objective of this event is to strengthen ties among the members of the ICIQ community, to meet again and share experiences.
Prof. Emilio Palomares has celebrated today in-person event, highlighting the pride of being part of the Institute for many years and recognizing many faces.
This edition counted with the participation of three alumni who wanted to share their experience explaining how ICIQ has contributed to the success of their professional careers.
Particularly, Dr. Josep Albero Sancho, Senior Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Chemical Technology of the Polytechnic University of Valencia – CSIC, who obtained his PhD at Prof. Palomares’ group, shared the importance of having been trained in an internationally recognized center of excellence for his career development.
On the other hand, Dr. Moira Ciardi, who started her research career at ICIQ with Prof. Ballester’s group, explained that her research led her to the world of private companies, where she is currently the Director of Scientific Publications, from where she continues working to contribute to the progress of society.
Finally, Fernando Gomollón-Bel shared his experience in Cambridge (UK) where he led the communication of the Graphene Flagship, one of the largest research projects funded by the European Commission. In addition, he has also shared his entrepreneurial side since he has recently launched his own science and communication company Agata Communications.
About 60 people attended in person and another 30 followed the event online. At the end of the event, the attendees go to the city center where they are celebrated the Festa Major of Santa Tecla.
