The 28th Science Week at Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ-CERCA) concluded with resounding success, creating an enriching experience for students, researchers and the general public. This week-long event, held from November 11 to November 21, showcased a diverse array of dissemination activities and collaborative initiatives.
One of the highlights of the week was the Glass Blowing workshop organized in collaboration with La Canonja City Council. Participants were offered a unique opportunity to delve into the art of glass blowing and its applications in scientific research. The workshop not only provided valuable insights into the chemistry behind glass blowing but also encouraged creativity and hands-on learning.
Another noteworthy activity was the “Ciència a les escoles” workshop, where ICIQ scientific education and outreach unit brought experiment to Lestonnac School in order to explore various scientific concepts and learn about the exciting possibilities of a career in chemistry.
A thought-provoking lecture on “Money Science” explored the fascinating intersection between economics and science. Renowned experts from Banco de España delved into the connections of materials and procedures with chemistry.
In addition to the lecture, the Science Week has also featured a chemistry workshop specifically designed for families. An interactive session to provide an opportunity for both children and adults to learn about the wonders of chemistry through exciting experiments and demonstrations.
Science Week at ICIQ served as a dynamic platform for knowledge sharing and scientific dialogue, fostering connections among scientists, educators, and the public.
