ICIQ participates in the organisation of the 18th IUPAC International Symposium on Organometallic Chemistry Directed Towards Organic Synthesis (OMCOS). The symposium, that will gather around 850 participants from more than 40 countries, will take place next week (June 28 to July 2) in Sitges (Barcelona).
“Now, for the first time, OMCOS is organised in Spain, in recognition of the contributions made by many Spanish groups on one of the most active areas of research at the frontier of chemistry” -says Antonio M. Echavarren, ICIQ group leader and chair of OMCOS18.
The symposium will bring together chemists from industry and academia from around the world and it is centered on the most recent advances in new metal-catalyzed and metal-promoted reactions, mechanistic insights and new applications, novel preparations and uses of organometallic reagents, as well as ingenious and improved methods for the synthesis of pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals and materials.
Among the invited speakers are Robert G. Bergman (University of California, Berkeley), Helmut Schwarz (Technische Universität, Berlin), Naoto Chatani (Osaka University), Sukbok Chang (KAIST, Daejeon) and Melanie Sanford (University of Michigan) that will also be the recipient of the 2015 OMCOS Award. José Barluenga, professor emeritus at Universidad de Oviedo, will be the OMCOS18 Guest of Honor.
The organising committee is composed of ICIQ’s group leaders: Antonio M. Echavarren, Kilian Muñiz, Rubén Martín and Miquel A. Pericas and of Elena Fernández from Universitat Rovira i Virgili.
