They say they registered for M’agrada la recerca course because they love chemistry. But we think they just finished their school year and couldn’t resist learning even more.
Students in 1st and 2nd of ESO are participating in ICIQ’s Casal d’Estiu (summer camp) taking place at the institute’s Learning Laboratory from June 26th to the 30th . Students become acquainted with different laboratory techniques every chemist knows well: from distillations to chromatography and basic operations to run reactions. They also have insight into the research carried out at ICIQ. They perform experiments showing catalytic reactions and they have an overview on solar cells and artificial photosynthesis research.
ICIQ’s Casal d’Estiu also includes the course Fem química, introduction to chemistry from experiments that help to understand our daily life from the perspective of chemistry. Fem química is directed to students in 5th and 6th grade of primary school and it’s taking place from July 24th to the 28th.
Both courses seek to engage children in science and specifically, they seek to inspire interest in chemistry and its potential to improve our world.
