This is the fifth time ICIQ has been successfully funded through a call from the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades aimed at supporting Spanish research institutions to increase their participation in the European Research and Innovation framework. Since receiving its first grant of this type in 2013, the Institute has consistently secured similar funding, supporting the projects’ units transformation to meet the growing complexity of managing European research projects.
The new project, STREAM-ICIQ, officially launched in January 2025, will run for two years. With over €280,000 in funding from the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades and the Agencia Estatal de Investigación under the “Ayudas para la preparación y gestión de proyectos europeos y facilitar la atracción de talento internacional 2024” call, this project aims to enhance the participation of the center in European projects, gain operational efficiency and increase the ICIQ’s visibility as a reliable partner.
STREAM-ICIQ is the next step in the evolution of the team in charge of supporting the Institute’s researchers in the application and management of European projects. The project is designed to address the current demands of the Horizon Europe programme, aiming to maximise ICIQ’s impact.
The project is structured around three core objectives to be addressed over the next two years:
– Enhancing Visibility and Collaboration
One core objective of STREAM-ICIQ is to enhance the Institute’s visibility and strategic positioning within European research networks, while consolidating strategic internal cross-departmental collaboration.
– Optimizing Research Management
As ICIQ’s participation in European projects grows, so does the demand for resources to manage them. This increase has led to a significant volume of information and data requiring coordination across multiple units.
The project introduces innovative tools and processes to streamline research management. These include the implementation of new software and the integration of artificial intelligence to optimize coordination, identify funding opportunities, and support the formation of collaborative research consortia.
– Expanding Research Horizons
STREAM-ICIQ aims to strengthen ICIQ’s position within Horizon Europe by exploring new thematic areas and clusters while preparing for the next framework programme, FP10.
In the current dynamic environment, having an agile structure and effective internal communication is essential for adapting and ensuring active participation in shaping the European research agenda. STREAM-ICIQ includes specific tasks and actions aimed at reinforcing the Institute’s positioning, enabling it to better contribute to the definition of future European research agendas.
STREAM-ICIQ (REF. GPE2024-001431-P) is funded by MCIU/AEI/10.13039/501100011033.
