Minister Nadal met with the Management Team to learn about the ICIQ’s main lines of research and future projects
The Catalan Minister of Research and Universities, Joaquim Nadal, visited the headquarters of the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ-CERCA), where he was accompanied by ICIQ Management’s Team.
The meeting, led by the director, Prof. Emilio J. Palomares Gil, served to present impact indicators, and to show the main projects and research lines of the Institute. In addition, the main challenges of Catalan research system were addressed.
The Minister, who is President of ICIQ’s Board of Trustees, was enthusiastic during the walk through the facilities, where he was able to discover the projects and the work conducted by research staff: “ICIQ is a leading research centre worldwide for several reasons: research, transfer and talent”, he commented. In this sense, Prof. Palomares added “knowledge is not understood without an application, we are with institutions and companies to contribute to the development of society and the territory”.
At the end of the visit, Nadal, in statements to the media, highlighted the commitment of the Government of Catalonia to ICIQ’s research and expressed the importance of these visits to get to know first-hand the projects and research carried out. For her part, the administrative director, Dr. Laia Pellejà express her gratitude for the visit and the commitment of the Minister to ICIQ and the whole Catalan research system: “from the ICIQ we want to contribute to the excellence of the Catalan research system and we work to be a reference in cooperation, education, knowledge and innovation”.
