A paper from Kleij's group, selected by the Editorial Board of SYNFACTS
8th abril 2010 – The article Cooperative activation in the hydrolytic kinetic resolution of epoxides by a bis-cobalt(III)salen-calix[4]arene hybrid, coauthored by Arjan Kleij and Sander Wezenberg, and recently published in Adv. Synth. Catal. 2010, 352, 85-91, has been selected by the Editorial Board of SYNFACTS for its important insights.
In this work, the authors use calix[4]arene as a catalyst support in an attempt to mimic the effect observed in enzyme catalysis, which often involves cooperative activation of the reactants by two or more metal ions, giving very hight reaction rates and selectivities.
