Nicolas Marion awarded with one of the three Research Lilly awards for PhD students

Nicolas Marion, PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Nolan, has been awarded by the pharmaceutical company Lilly with one of the three Research Lilly Awards for PhD students in Organic, Pharmaceutical, and Analytical Chemistry.In its fourth consecutive edition, the Research Lilly Awards – gifted with €1.500 each one – value the PhD students innovative research. The scientific committee in charge to award the Research Lilly Awards has selected the three best PhD students among 65 works received from students all over Spain.

The awards ceremony has taken place at the R&D Lilly Centre headquarters, located in Alcobendas (Madrid, Spain). Nicolas, together with the other two awarded students (Margarita Altable, from Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and Lucía álvarez, from Universidad de Oviedo) has performed an oral communication about his thesis entitled N-Heterocyclic carbenes in late-transition metal catalysis: Focus on Pd and Au. Later on, the awarded students, and the rest of the invited audience, have attended a lecture by Prof. Peter Wipf, from University of Pittsburgh .
