Gabriele Govanardi

Visiting Student

During his thesis, Gabriele has worked on the development and synthesis of novel multivalent Calix[6]arene-based phosphine ligands and the evaluation of the catalytic activity of the corresponding gold(I) complexes in a model intramolecular cycloisomerization reaction of 1,6-enynes. Then, during his Ph.D he has worked on the development of methodologies for the preparation of inherently chiral calix[4]arene derivatives via gold(I)-catalysed hydroarylation reaction and the direct borylation of the cliax[4]arene scaffold with Bis(pinacole)diborane by Ir(I)-catalyzed borylation reaction. He has also been trained in the usage of Bruker AV400 for NMR spectroscopy and HPLC-MS, both for purification and for the evaluation of the enantiomeric ratio in chiral compounds.
