A key pillar of the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia (ICIQ) is to train the new generation of scientists who will lead future research in the field of chemistry. One of the pioneering initiatives in this field is the ICIQ Summer Fellowship Programme supported by ”La Caixa” Foundation, through CaixaBank, which promotes academic internships during the summer in one of ICIQ’s research groups.
Aimed for undergraduate students in chemistry and other related disciplines, the selected students will have the opportunity to carry out an internship in research projects supervised by ICIQ researchers. In addition, they will receive complementary training to improve their competencies and skills as a scientist. Specifically, during their internships the students will attend ICIQ seminars and conferences, in which experts participate and discuss recent findings and trends.
In this year’s call, 163 applications were received for 13 grants, a rising trend during last editions in which “we have received applications from all over the world and this is strictly linked to our mission to be recognized as a top research institution worldwide” highlights Prof. Emilio Palomares, director of ICIQ, who celebrates the success and announce a welcome celebration to receive the students.
These grants have received support from ”La Caixa” Foundation through CaixaBank, and from the State Research Agency and Ministry of Science and Innovation through the “Severo Ochoa” Centres of Excellence Programme 2019 (CEX2019-000925-S, MCIN/AEI/10.13039/ 501100011033, 2020-2023)
